COTABATO CITY – To motivate and empower OFW women, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration – Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (OWWA-ARMM) organized a film viewing activity that features and tackles women empowerment, gender equality, and issues confronting women in the marginalized and vulnerable sectors presenting the agencies Gender and Development (GAD) advocacy.

The activity as part of the 2017 National Women’s Month Celebration was held at OWWA-ARMM Regional Welfare Office on March 10 & 17, 2017.

The activity featured a short film dubbed as “Kwentong OFW: Saki si Fatima” (OFW Stories: I am Fatima).

The film tells the story of Fatima, a young woman from Maguindanao in the Philippines who motivated by family needs chooses to leave her home to work as a domestic worker abroad. The video focuses on her decision-making process and provides tips on how to migrate safely.

The activity also featured short films entitled “The Empowerment of Women: IMAGINE I Am, I Can”, “Violence against Women throughout the Life Cycle”, “We can be Violence-Free #endVAWph”, “Gender Equality Now”, “Educate a girl and she will change the world”, “Mom”, and other inspirational clips for women.
