CATERING DEPARTMENT
CHIEF COOK
Job Responsibilities
- Responsible to the Master ensuring that the objectives of the Catering Department are fulfilled (e.g. Food Planning, Preparation and Cooking).
Job Requirements
Education
Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management or Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation or Associate in Marine Transportation or Associate in Marine Engineering or Basic Seaman’s Course (Vocational).
Experience
Minimum of two (2) contracts as Chief Cook in ocean-going vessels.
Competencies
Strong strategic leadership skills; excellent oral and written communication skills; management level skills; basic computer knowledge.
Documents
Holder of valid National Certificate III (Ship’s Cook), National Passport and Seafarers Identification and Record Book (SIRB), NBI clearance; training certificates in compliance with the STCW 78 Convention, as amended 1995 (e.g. Basic Training, Consolidated Marpol, PSCRB, Shipboard Culinary Course MLC2006, SDSD etc).
Medical
Must pass Pre-employment Medical Examination as per vessel’s P&I Club.
MESSMAN
Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for cleaning of ship’s accommodation, alleyways, messrooms, etc; attending to the meals of officers and crew; assisting in storing of provisions etc.
Job Requirements
Education
Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management or Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation or Associate in Marine Transportation or Associate in Marine Engineering or Basic Seaman’s Course (Vocational).
Experience
College or Vocational Course Graduate.
